GoneGrey Pour Decisions: The Confidence Collins
The Confidence Collins: A Clean, Crisp Cocktail With Main Character Energy
Some drinks whisper. The Confidence Collins walks into the Memorial Day BBQ like it already knows where the cooler is.
Made with gin, cucumber, basil, lemon juice, and tonic, this cocktail is crisp, refreshing, and effortlessly put together — kind of like the person who remembered sunscreen, brought ice, and somehow still looks great in humidity.
Ingredients
- 2 oz gin
- 3–4 cucumber slices
- 3 fresh basil leaves
- ¾ oz fresh lemon juice
- ½ oz simple syrup
- Tonic water
- Ice
- Cucumber ribbon or basil sprig for garnish
Step 1: Start Fresh
Add cucumber slices and basil leaves to a shaker. Gently muddle them — emphasis on gently. We’re making a cocktail, not starting a landscaping business.
Step 2: Bring the Brightness
Add fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and gin. This is where the drink starts becoming the most confident person at the party.
Step 3: Shake It Off
Fill the shaker with ice and shake for about 10–15 seconds. Long enough to chill it, not long enough to question your life choices.
Step 4: Strain and Shine
Strain into a tall glass filled with fresh ice. Top with tonic water for that clean, bubbly finish.
Step 5: Garnish Like You Mean It
Add a cucumber ribbon or basil sprig. It says, “Yes, I garnish,” without saying, “I own cocktail tweezers.”
Final Sip
The Confidence Collins is light, crisp, and easy to love — perfect for Memorial Day, summer weekends, or any moment that calls for a drink that feels clean, refreshing, and completely self-assured.
